Logos/Graphic identity guidelines

Purpose

This site specifies rules and conventions for proper usage of the 麻豆传媒映画 (CSHL) logo. Consistent logo usage is an important component of building and maintaining a strong institutional identity. The CSHL logo is registered with the US Patent & Trademark Office and is protected against unauthorized uses. Adherence to the guidelines set forth here is essential to ensure that 麻豆传媒映画 is consistently presented in a legally and visually correct manner. It is the responsibility of each person using this site to see that usage and trademark protocols are followed in all official communications.

Please contact the Communications Department for any clarification or assistance that you may need to address situations or circumstances not covered on this site.

麻豆传媒映画 primary logo usage

Acceptable usage

The 麻豆传媒映画 logo, shown here, comprises two components: the Laboratory mark and the logotype (font). This is known as a 鈥渓ock-up.鈥 The words 鈥溌槎勾接郴 have been carefully sized and letterspaced to the right of the trademark in specific proportions and placement in relation to each other. Lock-ups should not be modified or taken apart. The mark must be used with the full name 鈥溌槎勾接郴 spelled out. The use of the mark alone with the abbreviated 鈥淐SH鈥 trivializes or obscures the institution鈥檚 identity. When reproducing the logo, it should never be redrawn or redesigned for any application. Use only the official reproduction artwork, available in several electronic formats as cross-platform files that may be placed in other software or opened directly in their native software.The logo must be used appropriately on stationery, business cards, publications, office forms, signage, vehicles, clothing and memorabilia, and as a visual in public presentations, locally or on the web.

Unacceptable usage

It is unacceptable to use the logo:

  • as a 鈥済hosted鈥 background image (like a watermark) with type or other objects on top of it;
  • over an image or type;
  • on top of a gradient or patterned background;
  • on multiple colors in its background field;
  • as the central design element on a publication, except on stationery and signage; or
  • as a scanned reproduction;
  • with a tagline near the logo lock-up.

Primary logo minimum size & clear space

The minimum recommended reproduction size of the logo is 1.562″ wide. The letters 鈥淐SH鈥 inside the loop ring should be no smaller than 6.5 points. For maximum clarity and visibility, a minimum clear space surrounding the logo has been established to be equal to the width of two loops in the mark at whatever size it is being reproduced. No other elements should intrude into this area.

In either of these options, the components are in a fixed relationship, and should not be altered, modified, or repositioned in any way. Either one of these logos may be used in a document, but never combined with one another.

Primary logo colors

The Laboratory logo, when possible, should be printed in its two key colors. Below, you will find the color breaks for the logo. Also, you will find their Pantone Matching System (PMS) equivalents when using spot inks in printing, and the Cyan (C), Magenta (M), Yellow (Y), and Black (K) equivalents where 4-color process printing is used. The 2-color logo may appear on any field of color except black or its own blue; or may be reversed out of any selected color (“knocked out”), taking care that enough contrast is maintained to ensure legibility.

PMS C M Y K
CSHL blue: 294 100 58 0 21
CSHL black: black 0 0 0 100

The effectiveness of these colors depends upon the consistency of their reproduction, which requires a high degree of quality in color matching. PMS color swatches should be provided when specifying color to a vendor.
